Black Oxide for SST

A thermally produced dark-brown to black oxide conversion coating produced by immersion of a component in alkaline salt solution. The saturation of the colour obtained depends on the nature of the base metal (substrate), the heat treatment, the surface preparation and the composition.

The black oxide products is frequently used to produce a true durable black oxide conversion coating on stainless steel. From the black oxide process, these essentially dimensionless coatings create very decorative, highly durable black finishes that leave an absorbing oxide layer for oils and waxes that will provide for enhanced corrosion protection.
